We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Laboratory Analyst to join our operations in Ilupeju, Lagos. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting chemical analyses, maintaining laboratory instruments, and ensuring all testing activities comply with regulatory, safety, and quality standards. This role is ideal for professionals with a B.Sc. in Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry and hands-on laboratory experience in a manufacturing or lubricant environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments, including HPLC, GC, UV-Vis Spectrophotometers, and other analytical equipment.
- Prepare chemical solutions, reagents, and standards in line with approved formulations, SOPs, and test methods.
- Analyze test data and prepare accurate technical reports, ensuring compliance with internal quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support the development, validation, and implementation of new testing methods and laboratory procedures.
- Ensure strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and good laboratory practices (GLP).
- Maintain complete and accurate laboratory records, including test results, calibration logs, equipment maintenance records, and inventory.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality Control, and Operations teams to ensure product quality and process consistency.
- Participate in internal and external audits, inspections, and quality reviews.
- Use ERP systems for documentation, reporting, and inventory tracking.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry.
- Minimum of 4 years’ laboratory experience, preferably within chemical manufacturing, lubricant production, or related industries.
- Strong working knowledge of analytical techniques and instruments such as HPLC, GC, UV-Vis Spectroscopy, and wet chemistry methods.
- Good understanding of laboratory safety standards, chemical handling, and waste management procedures.
- Familiarity with ISO standards, SOPs, and quality management systems.
- Experience with ERP systems; knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
- High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
